Nikon Coolpix S7c Camera Review Part 2

This is a quick review of the Nikon coolpix s7c camera and this is part 2 to a 2 part review

Problems with my Nikon Coolpix S7c digital camera?

I have a nearly brand new Nikon Coolpix S7c digital camera and am currently having trouble with it. I got home from the beach, after taking pictures and enjoying the water, and put the pictures onto my computer. However, when I took the camera off of the dock it resumed to stay on. The problem lies here; After I took it off the dock and tried to turn it off, it won't. Even when I try to press all the other buttons and try to take pictures, nothing happens. Also, there is a grayish tint to the color on the LCD, rather than normal color. Lastly, the LCD turned off once, but the on/off indicator kept flashing intermittently and I still could not do anything. The gist of it is, the camera stays on and I can't turn it off or do anything with it. I have to take the battery out in order to shut it off. Any helpful response would be appreciated.

I'm guessing the camera got damaged by heat, water or sand. Is it still under warranty? If so, then take it back to where you bought it for warranty repair. If not, then expect to pay for repair. There's no way to fix digital cameras yourself.

i agree with terisu, bring back to nikon to service and dont try to do it yourself it may make it worst.

Which is better over all, the Nikon Coolpix s6 or the Coolpix s7c?

They seem similar but they have a few differences. What's the difference of the wi-fi in the S6 and the wireless coolpix connect in the S7c? Which one has the better over all features?
Thanks DC, I think I might want to get the s7c because they're the same price anyway! Thanks again!

Hello filipina_artist,

How are you doing? I personally am an owner of a Nikon Coolpix P1 Digital Camera so I can speak of the great quality of Nikon products. My Nikon has been awesome, and mine like the S6 and the S7c has the Wi-Fi picture transfer feature. The feature is an awesome commodity, for when you do not have your USB cable and wish to transfer photos onto your computer, it works really well. The main difference between the two cameras is that the S7c offers 7.1 Megapixels of Sensor Resolution, while the S6 only offeres 6.0 Megapixels. Other then that the cameras are pretty much the exact same, they both have the same lens and practically the same features. The Wi-Fi mode on both cameras is the same and opperates on the IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g Frequencies. I personally, would suggest that if 6.0 megapixels is enough, that the S6 would be fine, but if you are going for large detailed images the S7c is also a great buy and you can purchase it in black, which is nice.

Here are the specifications of the S6:

Here are the specifications of the S7c:

I would recommend making a decision and then going to Ebay.com and purchasing it there, you can get it for a lot less then a retail camera shop. I got my P1, $250 cheaper then at a camera shop. My recommendation is make sure the seller of the camera is located in the U.S. to prevent buying a Grey Market product. Feel free to ask me anymore question, and goodluck with your purchase!

DC

I think you may want to try cheapest prices search engine for both reviews and to purchase. They will check ebay and all of the others for prices and there are a lot of reviews.

What is the difference between the Nikon Coolpix S7c and a Nikon Coolpix S50?

I want to buy a camera, and i don't know the difference these two cameras have.

The S7c has WiFi capability as does the S50c

The S50 series cameras also have image stabilization

I would consider buying the S50c

OK - I see there are errors in the dpreview.com site, so since I attempted an answer in the first place, I feel like I have to investigate this for you.......

S50-------..--..--..--------S7c
7.2 MP-----..--..--..----------7.1 MP
Macro from 4 cm-----------same
3" LCD, 230,000 dots----same
38-114 mm (equiv)--------35-105 mm
f/3.3-4.2--..-..-..--f/2.8-5.0
SDHC--------..--..--..-----SD
3072x2304 pixels max---same
Optical lens shift VR-------Electronic VR
ISO 100-1600---------------same
Flash W 1-19.6 ft-----------Flash W 1-8.5 feet
Flash T 1-13 ft---------------Flash T 1-4.5 feet

Plus the "c" designation means that the S7c has wifi. The S50c does, also.

Okay. It looks like the S50 is the newer version of almost the same camera. I would prefer optical image stabilization as found in the S50. For whatever reason, the flash reaches farther also.

I'd get the S50. Nikon shows the list price is cheaper, too, but that's probably because you are looking at the wifi version of the S7 and that's not comparing apples to apples.

B&H Photo has the S50 for $250 and the S50c for $280.
They no longer sell the S7 or S7c, so - yes - the S50 is an update.

go to nikon site and you can read the specs on each

How do you put music for the pictmovie slideshow on a Nikon Coolpix S7c?

I dont know if nikon s7 got this programme. one way you can do slideshow on a DVD or VCD picture movie is by using software like, Ulead 10, Magix and also some of the software that comes with the camera

problem with my my nikon coolpix s7c digital camera?

when i want to take pictures, the screen is completely black. the shutter will still snap but the picture doesnt take, and when i review the picture i just took, it also apprears black. When i want to review my older pictures, i still can like normal, but the screen is black when taking pictures.

on my nikon, i have a button that will shut off the lcd while taking pictures. have you tried video mode? also check your menu button and see if there is a selection in there that will turn it back on while shooting pics. i tried to look for a pic of your model but could not find a back shot. when all else fails, check your manual on how to turn screen back on.

Are you saying that the LCD is black when you take the shot, but the image file when viewed on your computer is fine?

Since it is just over a year old, call Nikon's hot line and talk to them about it.

The usual way this happens to a digital camera is from gravity or fluids influencing the camera in a negative way. Those two events are not covered by a manufacturers warranty.

Screen problems with Nikon Coolpix S7c Digital Camera?

I have just purchased a Nikon Coolpix S7c and out of the box playback of images show random, blue (mainly) and orange lines of pixels on the screen. These pixels errors move as the image is displayed before settling. But everytime I view a photo their position changes.

If I transfer the images to my PC the pixel errors are not there. I am assuming this is a fault with my camera. Can anyone please confirm that playback of images is perfect with no pixel distortion on their Nikon Coolpix S7c.

Thank you
LBj - When taking photos press the button half way so it auto-focuses and then fully depress. I think this is your problem.

Do you have any unusual characters on your camera screen when you play back pictures? This is the only fault I have.

Your Camera has a defective LCD Screen. Take it back where you bought it and if it has been less than 30 days they should have no problem exchanging it for a new camera. If it has been more than 30 days, then there is a good chance you will need to deal directly with the MFG yourself, OR you can take it to a camera store and have them send it in to the MFG for you.

Nikon Coolpix S7c sending pics to computer?

On the two occasions I have tried to send pics wirelessly from S7c to laptop I get the message to insert "WEP Key". What is this? Where is this?

these may help to explain what the WEP key is

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wired_Equivalent_Privacy

http://www.askdavetaylor.com/what_is_a_wep_key.html

I just did a simple google for wep key and that what came up and was most useful.

Hope it helps a little.

What is the price of Nikon CoolPix s7c in INR?

I said INR!!!

And what, please is INR?

Why won't my Nikon Coolpix S7c turn on?

I have had this camera for about two months now. It is not well-traveled and I have taken care not to drop or harm it in any way. However, after today, the screen started to streak with lines, and when I would turn the camera off, the screen would fade out and not just turn off. I believe the camera experienced a slight bang earlier in the day, but nothing severe. Now the camera won't turn on at all. I've let it charge all night and it says the battery is fully charged but the camera won't turn on. Why is this, and can I fix it myself?

you cant fix it by your self, you ll make it worst. go back to nikon to fix your camera.

Watch movies on Nikon CoolPix S7c?

I have been trying to transfer movies from my computer to my memory card to then watch on the camera. The files are .mov which is the correct type i'm sure but it doesn't recognize them please help!

this is a common issue with pretty much all digital cameras. the card will store anything, but the camera will only play back on its LCD the photos and videos taken by the camera.

You can try to carefully take a video, then replace and rename the video in the folder, making sure that all links from all folders are there. In effect- trying to trick the camera into playing the video, but it probably will not work. My guess is that there are more data and instructions stored in those camera .mov files, especially for the digicam.
