Which is better over all, the Nikon Coolpix s6 or the Coolpix s7c?

They seem similar but they have a few differences. What's the difference of the wi-fi in the S6 and the wireless coolpix connect in the S7c? Which one has the better over all features?
Thanks DC, I think I might want to get the s7c because they're the same price anyway! Thanks again!

Hello filipina_artist,

How are you doing? I personally am an owner of a Nikon Coolpix P1 Digital Camera so I can speak of the great quality of Nikon products. My Nikon has been awesome, and mine like the S6 and the S7c has the Wi-Fi picture transfer feature. The feature is an awesome commodity, for when you do not have your USB cable and wish to transfer photos onto your computer, it works really well. The main difference between the two cameras is that the S7c offers 7.1 Megapixels of Sensor Resolution, while the S6 only offeres 6.0 Megapixels. Other then that the cameras are pretty much the exact same, they both have the same lens and practically the same features. The Wi-Fi mode on both cameras is the same and opperates on the IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g Frequencies. I personally, would suggest that if 6.0 megapixels is enough, that the S6 would be fine, but if you are going for large detailed images the S7c is also a great buy and you can purchase it in black, which is nice.

Here are the specifications of the S6:

I would recommend making a decision and then going to Ebay.com and purchasing it there, you can get it for a lot less then a retail camera shop. I got my P1, $250 cheaper then at a camera shop. My recommendation is make sure the seller of the camera is located in the U.S. to prevent buying a Grey Market product. Feel free to ask me anymore question, and goodluck with your purchase!

I think you may want to try cheapest prices search engine for both reviews and to purchase. They will check ebay and all of the others for prices and there are a lot of reviews.

How can i make good quality videos with my nikon coolpix s6?

i really want to make good videos to post on youtube but when it's at night the quality is awful, any way to change settings to make look good and pretty much almost perfect for youtube?

You can't. Point & shoot cameras aren't optimized for video and the small sensor physical dimensions limit the quality under low lighting conditions. Plus, the amount of compression used on p&s camera videos is very high which places additional limits on the quality. If you want to take good quality videos at night, you need a decent quality video camera like the Sony VX2000 (oldie, but good camera, especially for low light conditions).

If you insist on shooting videos with your p&s camera, you need lots of light to reduce the noise you are seeing. You are fighting the physics of the sensor. You should also set the white balance of your camera to suit the lighting type (incandescent, fluorescent) of your scene. This will make the color more natural. You can also post process the video with tools like VirtualDub. With VirtualDub, you can adjust brightness, contrast, and do some noise reduction. The convolution filter works well for noise reduction, but is hard to figure out if you're not into filtering algorithms.

The poor quality with dimly lit subjects is not something that can be fixed with a setting. I'd recommend getting some lights (cheap clamp lights from a hardware store will work) and lighting your scene better.

How can you black out a background when taking a picture on a Coolpix S6?

is all about setting the focus and the shutter speed been awhile but that is the jist of it

You cannot black out the background using a Coolpix S6 or any other camera. All you can do is to used the widest possible aperture and blur it so far as possible (not always easy with a digital camera). The only way to completely black out the background is in a image manipulation program like Photoshop

Shoot at night in an open field with no lights or lighted buildings in the background and use your flash. If you have a spare external flash (you camera will not connect to one directly), you can use it in its slave mode and use it as a key or fill light.

When i connect my Coolpix S6 to my Kodak EasyShare 300 printer, the camera screen turns black...?

Once out of every 20 times the pictbridge sign appears, but then it freezes. What am i doing wrong? can someone give me detailed step by step instructions on how to connect my camera to the printer? Like when to press the power button, when to plug in...and so on.

Thanks

Kodak printers don't always work with cameras other than the Kodaks. That may be the case.

My computer hates receiving photos via digital camera "Nikon coolpix s6" or via card reader it always freezes?

My computer likes to lock up when I transfer photos to it the only way i have found is use my laptop and network into my desktop and transfer them that way any ideas of the problem?

i would uninstall that software and reinstall it. Check the drivers of the card reader if you have one. Or your desktop just might not be able to handle all that data. which OS is it?

Nikon Coolpix S6 Help?

I'm using the Nikon Coolpix S6 and I can't figure out how to get rid of this tiny yellow pixel that shows up with every picture. When I see the picture through the screen while I'm taking it, in between the focusing line there is this small yellow dot. It's not even in the center of those lines (the lines that look like [ ] )

And when I go to view my pictures, it always shows up. Is there a way to get rid of this?

Also, whenever I take a picture, this question always pops up - "This picture is blurred, would you like to keep it?"

the picture is NOT blurred at all and yet it makes me select yes or no every single time before I can take another picture. I wait for the camera to focus and everything but the question still shows up.

Help?

You have a dead or hot pixel. They happen, nothing you can do. Repair would most likely cost more than a new camera.
Learn how to use an image editor, and get rid of the pixel in post processing.

The warning message is probably right. They look sharp on the tiny little screen, but once you zoom in on the computer, you realize they really ARE blurred.
It means you are trying to hand hold your camera in low light where you really should be using a tripod or a little beanbag on a flat surface, together with the self timer to avoid blur.

I would urge you to consider the Canon Powershot A630 in your price range. I have literally tons of Nikon cameras, including some entry-level point and shoot cameras, but I think this Canon is what I would buy in a point and shoot today. Besides the fact that I just think it's a better camera, my rant for the month is to oppose cameras with no optical viewfinder. NONE of these Nikon's have optical viewfinders. Here are my reasons:

I lament the passing of the optical viewfinder and I would choose almost any camera with an optical viewfinder over one that only has an LCD viewfinder. Why?

1. You never have the option of turning off the LCD and these things eat batteries for lunch and spit them out. Why do away with the option of a viewfinder that has zero electrical drain?

2. You have to hold an LCD viewer out at some distance in front of your face. This is more conspicuous than I prefer to be all the time.

3. The need to hold a camera at arms length will introduce some shake. I like the idea of stabilizing a camera against my face when I am taking a picture. This is especially important with a longer zoom lens. No wonder "image stablization" or "vibration reduction" is necessary with these cameras. Not that there's anything WRONG with IS or VR, but it is really a requirement with LCD viewfinders and telephoto lenses.

4. Using the LCD to view photos after you've taken them slows down the camera quite a bit. You can't shut of the LCD monitor and still take pictures if you don't have an optical viewfinder.

Has anybody purchased a coolpix s6 dig camera are they any good or do you know of a better one?

Buy a Samsung Digimax i5. It is 5 megapixels, super slim design with 3x optical sliding lens - which means it doesnt protrude from the camera casing.
