coolpix s550?
so, im thinking of getting the coolpix s550 camera soon. I like it because its only $230 and its supose to have 5X zoom. thats more than other cameras for a lower price.
is it a good camera or does it have lots of problems. plz answer if u have experience with it.
does it shoot pictures fast?
It's not a bad one. The image quality is decent. It actually works quite nicely. Its not perfect though, it does have a tiny issue with White Balance under multiple mixed fluorescent lighting situations. The images come our slightly yellow. This can easily be fixed if you change the white balance setting in the menu if it shows up.
In terms of problems with it, I have not encountered any. I sell these cameras and I don't have problems coming back to me at all.
In terms of picture taking speed, it takes about 0.5 to 1 second to focus and take the picture in most cases. Flash will slow it down. Time until you can take the next picture varies with the memory card's own speed. If it is a concern, upgrade to a memory card with a 60x, 133x, or 150x speed. They don't cost much more than the memory card you have to buy anyways. Sandisk UltraII (60x) speed SD cards are usually about $5 to $10 more than their standard cards.

200-250 picture with the flash off. Playing with the camera, viewing picutres and flash will eat into that so it's a conservative estimate.
Optical view finder is like the old film cameras. Where you look through a hole to see the what you're taking a picture of (ie not through the screen). The Nikon S550 is not equipped with one (as with most other compact cameras).
ISO is the rating of the camera's signal amplification. It helps the camera become more sensitive to light, thus reduce blur in low light conditions or in action scenes (just like high ISO film from before). but you pay for it in image quality.
I believe it can do ISO 2000. It is not recommended to exceed ISO 400 as the higher the ISO the more grainy/staticy the picture gets. You also lose colour and detail. Automatic ISO will keep your ISO low anyways.
Whats a better camera - Nikon Coolpix S550 or Fuji Finepix Z20?
I'm a regular teenage girl looking for a camera to take pictures of good quality of me and my friends. Between the Nikon Coolpix S550 and the Fuji Finepix Z20 which one is the better to get.
I'm also planning on keeping this camera for about 4 years unless if something happens so keep that in mind.
i just got the fuji in red and it is awesome. u can pretty much do everything w/ it. u can even share pics wirelessly w/ other cameras and computers. the nikon coolpix S550 costs alot more but it does have the tripod. the fuji is a great pic at 10.1 mp but i personaly think the fuji is the best. The fuji z20 also has tons of features. about 3x more than the nikon.
Can I get my nikon coolpix s550 fixed if I bought it on ebay?
So I bought a nikon coolpix s550 on ebay in november of last year and it was new in box. I'm pretty sure it came with warranty info. Well I dropped it (it wasn't even all that bad) and the lens would only open up half way. Well now that problem is gone but it makes a really weird clicking noise. Think I could get it fixed? How can I go about doing that?

my nikon coolpix s550 is not taking clear pictures, can you help?
Most of the pictures i take with my nikon s550 coolpix camera come out pretty blurry or not in focus. it is a 10 mega pixle camera. i dont remember dropping it or damaging it. i went to best buy and they said nothing was wrong, but recently i turned it on and it made noise.
1. does this happen to anyone else?
2. any suggestions on how to get better pictures?
3. any suggestions for another very good digital camera?
i think with most cameras you have to let it auto focus before taking the picture so it won't be blurry and to do that you have to press down on the picture taking button but not too much otherwise it would snap a picture so as you lightly press the button the camera should auto focus and you may hear a beep noise then you can press all the way down to take the picture
Blur is caused by camera movement, that is if you take shots indoors without a flash, the shutter speed has to lengthen to allow enough provide a good exposure.
* When shooting indoors use a flash or steady your camera with a tripod or by steadying your camera against a wall or other firm spot and squeezing the shutter release so the action does not cause the camera to move ... at all
* The S550 is a very good camera ... you just have to learn how to use it under different lighting conditions.

You have a superior optical zoom lens (5x) which is a good thing, but at its longest focal length makes holding it steady more difficult if you have yet to develop some good skills at hand holding your camera, it may take some time before you will be happy the results of shooting in low light, hand held situations.

Get a card reader that can take SDHC cards. Connect it to your computer and download the images directly from the camera's memory card.
The memory card will mount as an removable drive, so it's just a matter of transferring the image files to your computer.

How does "Panorama" work on Nikon Coolpix s550?
I have been trying out how panorama works on the nikon coolpix s550 but i have had no luck what so ever! PLEASE HELP!
Cameras with panorama functions tend to give you a guide as to how much to overlap each photo in the panorama. So take the first photo, then move to your right slightly and watch the guide. Take the next photo. Repeat.
Keep your horizon level (good idea to use a tripod).
Which would You prefer? An Olympus Stylus 1010 or the Nikon Coolpix S550? Which one is better quality?

The Nikon Coolpix S550 has 10 mega pixels and only 5x optical zoom.
Which do you think has better all around physical quality?
Go with the Olympus. You'll be happy you have the extra optical zoom.
I'm a professional photographer and I've been using Olympus (and Canon) cameras for the majority of my career, and I've never had a problem with any of my Olympus cameras. They have excellent image quality and are very sturdy.
I have even dropped one of my old Olympus cameras a few times, and it still works like new.

It is being advertised at $206 on the Best Buy website. I just want something that will take good pictures and that is durable. I don't plan on doing anything complicated with it. What attracts me the most is its design and color. Anyone that has this camera please let me know how you like it.
Well I dont have it YET...but i researched soo much bout it...Any camera will do for basic camera taking!lol....It has an acrylic coat on the camera so its scratch resistent (durable)...it has good zoom and wont make your pictures look grainy if you zoom in somewhere like all the way..you can take good pictures in th dark light or in between....it has the latest everything on it! so itll be a very good camera for basic picture taking and wayyy beyond that...btw i saw it on Sams Club for i think 179 or 199 but yeah a lil cheaper then Best Buy..hope this helped! =)

Not really. Almost all the digital cameras made by reputable camera companies have similar features. The quality of the images have more to do with the skill of the user ... even when using nearly fully automatic P&S cameras.
