NIKON COOLPIX S510 UNBOXING & MORE
Hi guys here is a video of me unboxing my new Nikon S510.

Does the Nikon Coolpix S510 have the ability to charge through the USB port?
My exchange partner has a Nikon Coolpix S510 from Europe with the AC adapter, but the plugs don't fit, so I was wondering if he is able to charge to battery when it is attatched to the computer through USB.
NO.
Don't try it, you may fry your cameras electronics
All you have to do is by a plug converter .. about $10 for a full set.
which digital camera is better CANON PowerShot SD1000 or NIKON Coolpix S510?
please help me!!!! ive been trying to choose a new camera i had a sony powershot but it broke so ive narrowed it down to these two, if you have any other suggestions of good cameras i should take a look at please do tell.
thanks
Definately go with the Cannon.
The Cannon has wide angle capabilities, the Nikkon doesn't.
The Cannon has almost twice the battery life (270 vs 150).
The Cannon shutter lag is .4 while the Nikkon is 1 (extremely high).
No race here. For $30 dollars more you can get an infinitely better camera.
Now, if I am buying a subcompact I'd go with the Sony Cyber Shot DSC W80. Only $180 has the best print quality of anything out there, and has a battery life of 340 which is huge for a subcompact.
Now go and photograph.
The Nikon is OK, but the Canon is better at higher ISOs, low light.
If you can afford an extra few bucks I'd recommend the Canon SD850 IS, over the SD1000.
Longer zoom, IS.
Having said that, try them out in the store.
You might end up liking the powershot more and replace it with an upgraded model.
Sony makes great pocket cameras, just a bit pricey.
Also, Canon is releasing a new line of Elph cams.
The SD1100 IS.
Includes IS, 4x zoom, 8MP and some other fearures.
Haven't tried it out, but it looks good.

So go for
-Canon A720 IS or Ixus 860 IS
-Nikon P5000 or S700
or
- FujiFilm F40fd
- Ricoh R7
- Panasonic TZ 3
Do you own a Nikon Coolpix S510?
Hi,
I'm in the market for a new digital camera and am interested in the S510 because of its claimed shooting speed. I take a lot of action and need a rapid shoot. I've had 2 Coolpix cameras in the past and I've been pretty happy (they always seem to be the fastest shooters), but I have had some trouble shooting in low light. One review I read mentioned this was improved with the D-Light. Can you please let me know your experience with this model - pros/cons and if you would recommend?
Thanks for your help!
Yes it has all the cool features, but to really know if it will perform the way you want it to in shooting action shots, you will have to go to a store that sells them and test it.
I am a sports photographer and I am used to my shutter going off within 50 milliseconds of when I press the shutter release. I time the shot for the peak of action, so shutter lag, not continuous shooting speeds is my enemy.
Nikon coolpix Lens Error Help...?
I bought a brand new Nikon Coolpix S510 four days ago, and ive hardly used it, ive never dropped it or damaged it or anything, but i turned it on this morning and the camera froze and the lens made a whirring sound. And the "lens Error" sign popped up and the lens was stuck and woulnt go back in. The battery was fully charged, and i looked it up, and a lot of nikon digital cameras have this fault. So i tried to fix it my hitting the cameras on its side a couple of times...and the lens when back in and now the cameras working fine again.... Can someone please tell me whether i should send it back in for repair in case it happens again..? Heeelp
A four day old camera should not have done that. Recommend taking it back to the store immediately for a replacement. You may currently have gotten a reshelved store return that somebody dropped.
