From the reviews I've read, the s52 is a major improvemnt over the s51, and from what I've been able to find, they cost about the same now anyway, so you might as well go for the newer model.

They weigh nearly the same, so it should work. I have a camera that weighs two ounces more than yours, and it works for mine.
Which camera is better overall the Canon PowerShot A720 IS or the Nikon coolpix S51?
They are both about the same price and have almost the same features. I'm kind of leaning towards the canon because of brand name but am not sure. Ill be using the camera mainly for pics of friends and family for fun and maybe some video as well. Thnx to whoever helps me out!
If you are looking for brand name, BOTH Nikon and Canon are the brands the pros use.
If you are looking for a cool camera, then go to the store and hold both in your hands ... see which one fits the best in your hands and which is easiest for you to navigate through their menus.
The Nikon is slimmer, so it will fit in your pocket or bag easier and it uses the state of the art Li-ion batteries which hold charges longer and last for years. For about $50 more you can get the S51c which has WiFi connectivity. The Nikon also has a stronger flash (higher guide number) and larger LCD. The 16:9 image ratio option is sort of cool ... the "wide screen" look
The Canon has a longer reach optical zoom lens.

How to transfer my movies from my Nikon Coolpix S51 to my computer?
I need to know how to get my movies from my digital camera to my computer, I'm not sure how to do it though.. I've looked through the manual but I don't see anything about uploading videos to the computer, just pictures.

Formatting the card, be sure nothing to keep in the card before format it , will delete all including the protect images, files and movie.

Just copy them over to your computer using you computer skills. The computer will see your Nikon as an removable drive.

Does anyone know the picture to picture time of the coolpix s51? or any other pros/cons to this camera?
The picture to picture time in continous shooting mode for the Nikon s51 is 0.8 frames per second. Thats about average for most point and shoots, fairly slow compared to advanced compact cameras and DSLRs. I don't own this camera but have had a chance to play with one. It seems solid, nicely built. Image quality looked very nice, and the Vibration Reduction works very well. The current price on this model is a steal. I would consider looking at Canon's sd870 IS as well as the sd800 IS. These have lenses which extend out of the camera body and tend to deliver slightly better image quality. I also prefer the ergonomics of the Canon point and shoots to their Nikon counterparts. Hope this helps.
