Anyone know of a generic lens cover for Nikon Coolpix S4 camera?
I have two of these cameras and the cheap plastic cover is broken on both of them.
I'm not sure of the lens diameter on your camera, but most large photographic stores stock a wide range of lens caps, covers etc. They generally cost less than $5 - but it depends on the style that you purchase.
how can i get the lens cap of nikon coolpix s4 digi camera?
i own a nikon coolpix s4 digital camera from oslo, noway and the lens cap has been broken, i would like to get a new one , but can anybody let me know the place where i can get it replaced it in afforadble prices.

Many times the "big box" camera store phot departments sell them too...
Why is my Nikon Coolpix S4 digital camera showing a blank screen?
The screen has all the icons on, yet the image is totally black. It's as if the lens cap is on (of course I've checked the lens cap). When pictures are taken, the images come out black. I can view previously taken pictures on the screen, so I know that the LCD is working. What is wrong with the camera and is it something I can fix myself? Fortunately, the camera is under warranty if it is necessary to have it professionally repaired.
I just experienced the same problem. Did you also get an AF error if you tried to take a picture (shutter button half way down)? Mine is currently at Nikon for diagnosis and repair (under warranty). Since it sounds like you had the same problem, I tend to think this is a product defect. Has anyone else out there experienced this? If so, what was the root cause?
Anyone have a Nikon Coolpix S4?
I'm looking for a small camera with a big optical zoom and this is the best that I can find. Anyone have one of these? What do you think of it?
It is a good little camera.

I have owned three different Coolpix cameras over the years starting with the original Coolpix 100, a 990 and now a SQ. No problems at all except the 990 was stolen.
I have Nikon coolpix digital camara. Many times red eye coming in photos. How to remove red eye from camera?
Camera Model: Nikon Coolpix S4 digital Camera. I checked the brocedure given along with camera, but I didn't find any option in camera to remove red eye. Please help.
The Coolpix S4 has a flash setting for red-eye reduction. In the FLASH Mode Menu, it is the symbol with the lightning bolt and little eye. This setting will give a series of low intensity pre-flashes and the camera also does some in camera processing to remove red-eye before it stores the image.
If this isn't working, try one of the other flash settings or remove it with any good photo manipulation software on your PC.
There should be a "red eye" option under "FLASH SETTINGS.
the program that came with the camera will do that.
My first advice would be to use the red-eye reduction but if your camera doesn't have one try standing a little to the side of the people you are photographing. The red eye is the flash reflecting off of the retina of the eye. If you position yourself a little to the side you shouldn't get it as badly and most of the time, not at all. Or just have the subject look (with their eyes) over your shoulder and not straight into the lense. Another thing to do is to not shoot in very lowlight conditions. Turn on some lights, if possible. This will close the iris of the eye and not let so much flash in.
Hope this helps, Donna
i have a nikon coolpix S4.. somethings is wrong with it.....?
the pictures turn out black
whats wrong with it ???
Your shutter setting is messed up. It would be a safe bet that the camera is toast.
NIKON has a website that does offer firmware upgrades but if a firmware upgrade doesn't work, then it's a lost cause since the repair will be more than the value of the camera.
How good NIKON S4 COOLPIX is?
The really good Nikon digital cameras are the SLRs - the smaller ones (like the S4), Canon will beats hands down, model for model.
I would suggest that you first decide how much you want to spend and then find the best camera in that price range.
A very useful website for this is www.dpreview.com
Nikon Coolpix S4?
I'm really worried about my camera.
The computer isn't recognizing it,
and I NEED the pictures on it...
I am so worried about it...
The camera works fine, all the icons
are working fine, except it's just
not recognizable....
HELPPPPP PLEASEEEEE!!!
Just buy a card reader ..($15) and use it. You can then drag and drop your image files from your memory card to your computer.
Pros rarely connect their Cameras to their computers (you can't keep shooting if your camera is attached to your computer) and download the images as we work away from the computer.
Which one is better? Olympus 500 or Nikon Coolpix S4?.. Battery backup is sad in Olympus 500?
I would have to say that the SP500 would be a better choice in most cases. It has both a screen and a viewfinder for shooting( that is helpful outdoors in bright situations) The Nikon is smaller, but at the expense of poor quality. The Olympus also has more control of the camera. Both cameras use AA batteries, so I would say that you should use NiMH batteries that are rechargeable or lithium for long lasting batteries.
How can I get my Nikon S4 repaired under warranty?
Last October (in 2006) I bought a Nikon Coolpix S6 camera from Office Depot store in Chicago. I brought it from US to India. It worked fine for three four months but after that it stopped taking picture. I am very sure that I have not done any sort of mishandling with it. The service center says I have to send it to US to avail the warranty. They say it's lens is not working and it requires replacement.
I am not very sure what to do? Is there any surety that I would get back the camera in proper shape If I mail it to Nikon US from New Delhi, India. This was one of my most cherished buy so all timely responses are most welcome. Thank you.
Package it correctly, in original boxes if you have them. If not look for similar packaging there, as you remember how you unpacked it. Then pack that box inside another box with bubble wrap or styrofoam eggs/peanuts. As this should take care of accidental drops. Also remember to address both boxes incase the one inside falls out of bigger box.
Insure it and send FedEx, UPS or DHL, and ask for a return receipt. Then also get the tracking certificate so you can follow the package. It is good enough for companies like Hewlett Packard and Dell to send computers all around the world, it should work for a camera. I sent mine to New Jersey from Alsaka, so almost as far as you depending on how yours comes, and which side of US it is going to. Find out which warrenty center covers you and your location and address if you still have a US address.
