i have windows vista. i updated all the important updates for vista already. and this camera is vista certified.

You may have to install the drivers. If there is a CD come with the camera, run it. Try to replace the USB cables too, they might be broken.

The only way to change it is to adjust your shooting mode (sport mode - faster shutter etc), but this may not allow you to use a slow enough speed to capture what you need to. Your camera is a perfectly good camera, it is just not designed for what you want to do. I think you will find that even when you have the D40, you will still have a use for the S200!

is there an option for black and white photos on the Nikon coolpix S200?

Nikon Coolpix s200 windows 2000 compatibility issue?

Having same issue as bywee. I am not looking for useless answers like you should upgrade to XP.
Now; this camera works perfectly in XP but the driver will not work under win2000 Pro sp4. Nikon states it is compatible. Anyone else experiencing troubles with the Nikon coolpix s200 under windows 2000 Pro?

Have you tried changing the compatibly mode?
If your win2000 is set up for it, just right click on the shortcut for your software. This should bring up a compatibility tab. Click it and select run in compatibility mode. Choose a different operating system and then give it a try.

i want a sharp image for my photo even if its far but it wont work that way... what settings to give u a sharp image even its taken from far?

To get a sharp image make sure your using your flash button, remember you can always go in and sharpen it in paintshop on your computer.

Which is better, the Nikon coolpix 4100 or the coolpix S200?

A couple of years ago I bought the Nikon coolpix 4100. I needed to take quality pictures and since I couldn't afford a digital SLR camera (to replace my good film camera), I decided to buy the Nikon coolpix 4100. I have been satisfied with it (I know it's not the same as an SLR). The only thing I don't like is its size. I needed a camera to carry with me when I am with my friends (to take those simple pictures when you are socializing) so I decided to buy one of those little ones point and shoot cameras regardless the quality. So I bought the Nikon Coolpix S200. My plan was to keep my previous Nikon coolpix 4100 to use it when I needed high quality photos and use the little one for socializing. After comparing the pixels I was surprised when I saw the the coolpix S200 can take pictures up to 3,072 x 2,304 when the coopix 4100 can only take up to 2,288 x 1,712. So is the little one better than the bulky one? (and yes, I will sometimes need those pixels to enlarge photos)

Nobody can answer this question better than you can. You own both cameras, so you are in the position to do your own side-by-side comparison. Just do it and come back and you tell US which is better. I'd suspect that the newer camera with the newer softare and more pixels would be the better of the two, so without seeing anything, I'd vote for the S200.

How much will it cost, roughly, to fix the cracked LCD on my Nikon Coolpix s200? ?

I am sorry to tell you this but, a cracked LCD will cost you more to fix than the price of your S200 (especially at Nikon). I suggest getting the Coolpix S600. You will not be disappointed.

P.S.:You already have an SD card and an extra rechargeable battery(it fits the S600 too) not all went to waste, if not you can still use the camera if the crack is not too deep, by applying an LCD protector film on it.

nikon coolpix s200 display problem?

i have this neat red nikon coolpix s200, i use it most of the time and there's this one time i was about to use it its display wont work properly, it just shows white blurry thingy that changes into random white blurs everytime i push a button.. is there anything i can do to fix it? aside from bringing it to a repair shop.. i driver maybe or a reset button?

lens error on nikon coolpix s200 camera?

ive got a nikon coolpix s200 camera couple of months ago i turned it on the lens went in and out made a funny noise and stayed out and wont go back in and it comes up on the screen lens error has this happend to anyone else???

Are the batteries fully charged? Try that "fix" first. If that doesn't help then it may need to be repaired. Since repairs will probably cost more than a new camera you may want to start shopping for its replacement.
