Wild grape

Every so often I get a hankering for the "macro" mode on my ancient Coolpix 950. I think it's the shallow depth of focus that I can't get (or haven't figured out how to get) with the Lumix FZ7 that I normally use.
Pictured here is a remnant of a wild grape vine that was growing on a fence in front of our building and was then ripped out. Some of you might have seen my older picture of it: 20081030 First snow of 2008.

Nikon Coolpix 950 digital camera memory card is huge and it doesn't have a USB cord. How do I get my pix off?
The camera has been sitting around. It was given to us a while ago and I just found it. I've been loving just messing around with it but it doesn't seem to even have a place to plug in a USB cord. Am I just not seeing it?
Your memory card is the standard CF that all pro DSLR's use.
Buy a nice little card reader (usually under $7) and use it to copy the images off the card to your computer ...
What happened to your USB cord for the camera?

Nikon Coolpix 950 Digital Camera?
Can anyone tell me a little bit about this camera? I've looked online and I haven't found a whole lot in regards to overall quality. All I have found out is that it was originally created in 1999? Is this true? Whats the quality like? Whats a good price range? Do you enjoy it or think it is a good camera? I'm in need of a camera and a friend is offering this to me. Whats a good price? He wants me to make an offer. I need a good camera to take pictures of just simple things, like of my friends, parties, nature such as trees, animals, or the sky, and also beautiful sights like a building or whatever else I can find. I just need a camera that takes good quality pictures. Any opinoins on this camera, advice, thoughts, or whatever would be helpful. Thank you.
Crap, outdated.

The 950 was regarded as a hot camera back in 1999, but it's prehistoric by today's standards.
Check out the sample images and you'll see what I mean.
the more problems you may have
I would go with a newer one
that is my opinion
If you can open a new image - taken today - in a program like Opanda PowerExif, you might find the shutter activations listed. Many cameras log this information in the exif data.
I would value this camera at about $25, although some people might be willing to pay a bit more because of its infrared sensativity.
the canon ixus 950, ixus 80 or nikon coolpix?
i'm looking for a new digital compact camera. i have used canons a lot and have narrowed my choices down to:
Ixus 950
Ixus 80
or
Nikon Coolpix S700
I want a camera that takes SD cards and has a good ISO range. can someone please give me some advice or suggest a different camera altogether?
Thanks!
They are all fine cameras, all use SD cards ... the S700 has the highest ISO setting (3200) and some new features, like face recognition and D-Lighting which rescues dark or backlit pictures .
it has really great options and its price is too afordable
Camera Help Choosing: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS or Nikon Coolpix G10?

Heard good things about both,
but Im just really not sure of what to possibly consider to purchase.
I have a canon rebel xs (not digital) and I love it but of course it is not digital.
Used to have a Nikon Coolpix 950, loved that too. thought Nikon was great.
Now Im at a crossroads should I go with Canon or Nikon?
Also Considerations:
not really looking for a DSLR, I want an advanced point and shoot type.
Lithium Ion batteries preferred, but absolutely NOT ALKALINE.
and lenses is another dilemma
on my canon non digital, its a 35-80 and I dont really like the close up as much.
so what would be better for that, an 18-55?
please help an any way of answering one or all questions!
thank you!
The Nikon Coolpix is a P80 P&S and the Canon XS is a DSLR, two different camera types.
The 18-55 mm Canon lens will not work on your 35 mm SLR, since it will damage the mirror on your camera. You will need to buy a macro lens for close-ups.
The Nikon P80 is a good camera
