Nikon Coolpix 880 Camera Review

Nikon Coolpix 880 is often called as the "baby" Coolpix 990.But,why?880 camera certainly seems to be, from our test and image quality comparisons the 880 comes very close to the 990. Obviously you lose the split body, you lose the excellent magnesium alloy case ,the 880 also appears to have a very slightly smaller internal buffer making burst abilities a little less than the 990 but still far beyond 990. And Coolpix 880 with powerful rechargeable battery (nikon en-el1 battery)
Nikon Coolpix 880 info:
3.34 megapixel CCD delivering up to 2048 x 1536 pixel images.
1.8 inch, low temperature, polysilicon, TFT color LCD display with brightness and hue adjustment.
2.5x, 8 to 20 mm lens (equivalent to a 38 to 95 mm lens on a 35 mm camera).
4x digital zoom in 0.2x steps.
Built-in flash with five modes.
JPEG, uncompressed TIFF still-image formats and QuickTime movie file format.
Image capture on CompactFlash card with an eight megabyte card included.
USB and serial cables for connection to a computer.
NTSC or PAL video output formats, with cable included.
Powered by a rechargeable Nikon EN-EL1 lithium-ion battery or a 2CR5 lithium battery.
Auto and manual focus options.

Single, Continuous, Multi-Shot 16, VGA Sequence, Ultra HS and Movie capture modes.
Shutter speeds from eight to 1/1,000 seconds plus Bulb mode.
Apertures of f/2.8 - 4.2 or f/7.8 -11.3. (Variable with lens zoom setting)
Variable ISO setting from 100 to 400 with an Automatic option.
Manually adjustable white balance with seven modes.
On a happier note, Nikon includes a sturdy lens cap with a strap so it won't fall off. If you turn on the camera without taking off the lens cap, a message on the LCD reminds you to take it off.
The included 2CR5 lithium battery may last a while, you can buy another better nikon en-el1 rechargeable battery. It can supply you enough energy.
The 880 is simply an excellent digital camera, it takes excellent pictures and has every feature you'd ever need, things that may not seem useful at first but you'll grow into using.

Best point and shoot money can buy?
Hi, i'm trying to buy a camera...what's the best one, analyzing this at least:
I want at least 4x of zoom
Wide angle: at least 28mm
Sensor size: excellent sensor size (quality is a must)
If no optical viewfinder, the lcd must be seen under the sun.
I've seen some of them like Nikon Coolpix, Canon 880 sd, Sony W170, Canon G10 (this is bigger, but i think still pocketeable).
I'm not interested in manual options, so that's not a plus for me.
But i don't know what is the best of them. "The best for me" is that one that takes pictures without blur, vivid colors, with wide angle, good shots in low light conditions, pocketeable...
Thanks in advance.
What about the Nikon s710?
I think the best p&s money can buy is Canon G10. It is a camera made specifically to be a pocketable (if you've got large pockets) camera that gets as close to SLR as it gets. It costs almost as much too, and even then it's quality will be miles away from the simplest and cheapest of SLR's.... Because good quality = large sensor+good glass, and large sensor + good glass = large camera size. This is physics, it's laws can hardly be broken by creating a tiny camera with big quality....
Just a thing I have to warn you about - cameras don't take pictures... You, the photographer, take them. Camera is your tool. So if you have no idea what you're doing, you will not be able to take great pictures even with top of the line $6000+ SLR systems.
You don't want manual controls - but manual controls is how you make sure your pictures are crisp, vivid and blur free. Automatic modes don't always know what you are photographing, even with all the big words, like "face detection", and so on - if you want best results, you should get a camera with manual controls and learn how to use them.
This is why the best p&s cameras are loaded with manual controls. Because they are aimed at more serious shooter, who knows a bit more than just pressing a button. So, I'm afraid - you will not be able to get a great p&s without manual controls... And this is a good thing!
LEM.
