How to use the best of Nikon Coolpix 8400?

It's almost 2years i use Nikon Coolpix 8400 and i take only normal pictures,I sometimes want to take professional picture but it has a lot options and they make me confused and bored... But is it a good camera? is it powerful or weak? i don't have a lot of information about photography

To take professional pictures and learn more about photography, you will have to take a couple of classes in photography at a minimum

The camera does not make the photographer.

The 8400 has a lot of features that is true and while it is over four years old, it has a lot of features most of the newer P&S cameras don't have like aperture and shutter speed priority modes and can even shoot RAW image files.

Is the canon powershot G9 better then the nikon coolpix 8400?

Only nikon DSLRs are worth keeping... the coolpix cameras are SOOO SLOW in auto focus speed. buy the G9 and rule the earth with the high speed and performance...

yes, I have a powershot -- wonderful camera

probably the nikon because in general they make a much more high quality, more valuable camera.

apart from the battery life,. the g9 is better

Vivitar 8400 or Nikon Coolpix L11?

I'm a first time buyer of digital cameras. Two have caught my eye- the Vivitar 8400 and the Nikon Coolpix L11?

Which should I buy?

Hi... I can't comment on the Nikon but I have just bought the Vivitar. Its the 3rd point and shoot digital I've had, purchased mostly for the higher resolution. What I really like, that is different from others I've had or used is the ability to set manual shutter speeds, ISO and aperatures, therefore giving you the ability to control depth of field and the like. It also has a decently close focusing macro setting, good for most snapshot type photos. I've got more Nikon 35mm cameras and lenses than I know what to do with but the convienience of manipulating my prints digitally is very appealing. Money is an object and I can't afford to replace my film equipment with equivilent digital. The biggest downside is the speed it chews up batteries. At least 2x as fast as the Kodak 4 meg its replacing. I'm hoping that going to 2500m amp rechargables will give me reasonable use, otherwise I'll be carrying alot of batteries around. The 3x optical zoom is "adequate" and pretty standard. The digital zoom (ALL digital zooms) are a waste... you can do exactly the same thing when you're manipulating the photo in your computer. What would make this an ideal camera would be a wider angle zoom, far better battery life and the ability to make long time exposures. (like a "B" setting). All said, I didn't see anything other camera close to the features for the price I paid and if $20 for good rechargable batteries solves the energy issue, I'll be very happy with this camera indeed. Hope this helps. RS

Neither, actually. Both have significant shutter delays and the Nikon actually has a tendency of taking blurry pictures. Your best companies for digital cameras at the moment are Canon, or Sony. Sony is your best option if you are on a budget, there is little to no delay to your pictures, and the pictures are incredibly sharp. Also, from personal experience (I have owned 2 Sony's and 1 Nikon), Sony cameras tend to last longer. I had my first Sony for over four years, and my Nikon started having problems after 1.

I always recommend that my friends purchase Point and Shoot cameras from the major camera manufacturers. That includes Canon, Fujifilm, Konica-Minolta, Leica, Nikon, Olympus and Pentax.
There is no generality when it comes to shutter lag. Each model is different and shutter lag is different when you shoot without vs. with flash.

Blurriness: That is caused usually by either the technique or a gross failure of the auto focus system. Take a look at the dpreview link below and look at all your possibilities.

Nikon. Do you want a CAMERA or do you want a VIVTAR

Go nikon, vivitar is a toy camera.

Take at a look at these Photos do they look blurry to you?
they are from a Nikon L5 Which is older than a L11. So if the L11 has blurry photos so would the L5.

Here are photos from a L4 the cheapest of the L series. Do they look blurry to you?

Based on 9 customer reviews, we see 4.5 out of 5 stars on the Nikon Coolpix 8400.

I own the 8700 and the 8 megapixles are an increadible advance over my previous 2.2 Fuji (which I still love!).
All I can say about mine is that the photos turn out AMAZING if... IF you spend plenty of time going through the manual. If it's anything like mine, the poor reader is in for hours and days of reading and memorizing settings. It's only flaw... is it's light reading sensor is EXTREMELY sensitive. But this might be solely relavent to the 8700.
I hope this helps a little! If you'd like to learn more you can always go to AMAZON and read their customer reviews... that's what I always do! Take care and good luck!
