Nikon Coolpix 775 Overview

Nikon gave us our first glimpse of the 775 behind closed doors at PMA 2001, it was announced a little later at the same time as the Coolpix 995. The ultra-compact 775 features a 3x optical zoom lens and a 2.1 megapixel CCD, its small proportions, plastic case and lightweight lithium battery makes it one of the lightest digital cameras on the market today, it tips the scales at just 230g (8 oz) fully loaded.

The Coolpix 775 joins the Coolpix 700, 800 and 880 as part of the more compact side of the Coolpix range. It's the first ultra-compact Coolpix, its small proportions and light weight put it in that category. Clearly aimed at the first time buyer or size conscious end of the market. With a street price of approximately $450 it's up against the likes of Canon's PowerShot A20, Olympus D-510Z and the new Kodak DX's.

The 775 is designed to be small, pocketable and extremely easy to use.. With a straightforward Auto mode and seven preprogrammed exposure modes which configure the camera for optimum use in different types of scene you don't need to be a shutterbug to use this camera. This means of course that there isn't the normal Coolpix wide range of manual options, although you can still control white balance (including a manual preset), exposure compensation and sharpening. The 775 also has a movie mode which is limited to 15 second clips without audio.

What type of memory card does the Nikon Coolpix 775 require?

When I turn my camera on, it says no memory card. So of course I need one, but I am not sure what type to buy. Obviously, I am not very knowledgable on this type subject.

a trip to google or amazon you can find out..

i found this website on the internet what kinda of memory card it takes .. it says it takes a normal sd card ...

They don't all fit, they make different sizes, I have a Nikon Coolpix, I'm looking at my memory card and all it says is SD 2GB, I'm thinking the SD is the type you need. But who knows. I'm not really sure. Its the 1inch by 0.5 inche one. hope this helps. but it should say in your manual thingy.

Well,
1) Look at the insturction manual, assuming you didn't steal the camera.
2) Look up the model on the internet, and you will find that it uses a Compact Flash Type I card.
It has also been discontinued.
Did you steal this from someone?

JP L and Frito Laye are right .. it uses the same CF card used by all the highend DSLR's

How can I delete all the snap in Nikon CoolPix 775 Digital camera?

I want to delete all the picture together (in one go). Its very time consuming to delete snaps one by one. The camera has Sandisk 64 MB.

After you connect the camera to your PC, wait for sometime and it will launch an application which you can use to transfer pictures to your computer. There is an option there that says "Delete after copying". That should work.

If your camera gets detected as a removable disk (my Sony digi is always detected as removable disk in my computer) then u only have to Ctrl+A and then Delete!!

Having a Flash Disk reader will also help you solve this problem and transfer pictures to the computer faster.

I have a nikon coolpix 775 digital camera and although we have the right lead and everything it will not downl

download our pictures onto our computer. We know the camera works and the wire works but for some reason it will no come up on our computer and the camera keeps saying there is a communication error. Can anyone help?

try uninstalling the software and reinstalling it. Then reboot your computer and try again. If it happens again, there is still hope. You can purchase a card reader fairly cheap. It's like a mini disk drive for those memory cards. Just plug the memory card into the card reader and plug the card reader into the USB port in your computer. XP or vista should read it right away. good luck.

Whats the value of a Nikon Coolpix 775?

I found one and its in great condition and im considering selling it. How much could i get for this Digital Camera?

Not an awful lot, it is quite an old model now, circa 2002/2003, and was at the lower end of the range in terms of spec and resolution. You could buy something far superior brand new from a shop with a years guarantee for around £80 these days, with 3x the resolution etc.

I would expect maybe £10-25 absolute tops for a nice clean one in its box with software etc.

Might be as well to hang on to it, it was a good enough wee camera in it s day and should still deliver good 7x5s and maybe at a push 8x6 prints. Certainly fine for internet use.

unable to use 4 gb compact flah on coolpix 775?

i bought a 4gb compact flash for my nikon coolpix 775. it says format disk but when i formatted the disk it says disk full. Anybody know how did that happen or any solutions for that.. thanks
I tried to update the firmware for coolpix but nothing was available.. the last update i found was 2004..

I suspect that the camera only supports the FAT16 file system then. This would limit you to a maximum 2 GB card. At only 2.1 megapixels, even a 2 GB card will hold more pictures then you should ever keep on there.

Droped my Nikon "coolpix 775" it was on. Now get nothing. Won't come on,no lights no nothin. What to do.

I droped my camera while it was on. The lens is still out but I can not get it to do anything. Won't even come on to remove pics. Not sure what to do or if it is worth doing anything. Anyone having a sim. problem that got it fixed please advise.

You should buy a new camera. This one is broken and newer cameras are better. Sorry.

I have a NIKON COOLPIX 775 and cant get the blinking clock to stop on the screen. cant take pics.?

the blinking clock appears when i put it on auto or any other setting. when i go to snap a pic it does nothing. im pretty good with technology but i CANT get this off! now i never use my camera and there's nothing wrong with it...anyone know anything about this?

Just set your camera to "Auto" and turn it on. Press the "Menu" button. Toggle LEFT with the multi-selector and then toggle down to the "S" or "Setup" menu. Use the multi-selector button to choose "Date." Toggle RIGHT to move to the date and clock menu. After that, use the same button to walk through the steps of setting the clock. Use up or down to change the number indicated and when it's right, use the right side of the button to toggle to the next number to be set. When you are done, just push the multi-selector to the right again and your settings will be saved and the clock will stop blinking.

My Nikon Coolpix 775 has a problem! The lens jammed? Can anyone help!?

I plugged it into the computer and turned it on. It turned on, and then I waited for the computer to detect it, but it didn't. So I turned it off and unplugged the camera, but even after turning it off, the lens didn't move back into place and close - it just remained as it was. I thought it was a battery problem so I replaced it and tried turning it off again. Nothing happened. It's like my camera lens just stopped - and the whole of my camera is not functioning? Anybody have any idea?

Sam, I scoured a few forums for (general) digital camera owners and photographers. The prognosis could be: a) the lens engine is damaged, or b) the lens engine ribbon has come loose. You have already done the instinctive thing by replacing the batteries but that is apparently not the issue. The site I consulted suggested to either fix the ribbon yourself (if you're the DIY kind of person) or send the camera back to Nikon (if it is still under warranty). I hope this helps.

time to charge coolpix 775 new rechargeble battery ?

Here is a snippet from the nikontech website:

Charging the battery from empty to completely full will take approximately two hours. The LED on the charger will glow steadily when the battery is fully charged.
