Trying to download pictures off of my Nikon Coolpix 7600 today, and the Picture Project program said...?

..."No Connection". I had everything hooked right and it's always worked before now. What do you think is causing this and what should I do?

The problem could be with either the camera or the computer's USB port or the USB cable. If you have access to another computer & USB cable, you can try different combinations to isolate the problem.

If it turns out that the problem is with the camera's USB port - you can still use a USB memory card reader to transfer photos to your computer.

Is this a good camera? NIKON COOLPIX 7600 7.1MP DIGITAL CAMERA?

Nikon is a good brand of digicam. Only you can decide if the small size and combination of features is right for you.

The 7.1 MP is higher than average, but doesn't contribute much unless you print at greater than 8x10" size or do a lot of cropping and enlarging.

Here's the bottom line comment from

www.steves-digicams.com

Bottom line - the Nikon Coolpix 7600 is an affordable ultra-compact digicam that offers users great image quality with an abundance of exposure options. The only annoyance I found was when using the flash. After you capture an image, the camera "locks up" until the flash is recharged, which causes you to miss out on some spontaneous photo opportunities. Its 7M/Fine images have plenty of resolution to create photo-quality 13x19-inch or larger prints. With a street price of around $379, it offers a good value for a 7-megapixel digicam.

(Note that prices are now running at $200 to $250.)

I would only suggest that if you want a somewhat useless point and shoot. the high mega pixels is useless since the 3x optical zoom wont give you much to use that 7.1 for anyway. if it uses digital zoom it will make the picture blurring kind of eliminating the 7.1 MP. if you want a good digital camera look for ones with a high optical zoom (10-12x).that will give you good pictures for your money

say it's a coolpix 7900 / 7.1 mp retail $340

What is a good software product for editing and transfering .mov files from a Nikon Coolpix camera?

I have a Nikon Coolpix 7600 Camera, that takes 3 minute videos with sound. I am currently using a Kodak SD card in it and my free version of NERO Photo show will not recognize the file as existing at all. Can anyone tell me what program I could use to download the file from my camera and edit the video. I want to be able to send these files that average about 17.1 mb each to family.

...if your looking for a download, try to get a trial for something

but if u wanna buy something get Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 or Pinnacle 9.0

Nikon coolpix 7600 HELP PLEASE!!!?

My camera is constantly saying that it has an exhausted battery!!! It will only take maybe 10 or 20 pictures before the batteries go out. I am using two AA batteries (not rechargeable) because that is what it takes and what the book recommended. I have tried Energizer, Duracell, and the green cell ones that come with the camera and have had the same quick draining results with all of them. I have missed a lot of good pictures and memories because of this. Is there a good rechargeable battery I can buy for this camera or should I just buy another camera? (I'm not even sure if it will let me use rechargeable) PLEASE HELP !!!!

You could try the Energizer NI-MH Charger and batteries. The batteries are labeled 2200 mAH. These batteries should give you about 4 times the battery life of regular AA batteries.

If you are still getting the same results, you may want to have the camera checked or sent in for repair. If its still under warranty and there is a problem, it shouldn't cost you anything but time and maybe shipping.

Is there a way to stop the delay when taking digital pictures?

I have a Nikon Coolpix 7600. I like the camera it takes nice pictures, it's just hard to get pictures of people and pets when there is a 3 second delay from when you push the buttton til it actually takes the picture. It's really irritating. Would getting a better memory card work or putting it on a smaller megapixel? Help. I've read the entire manual trying to fix the problem myself-no luck. Thanks.

This delay is part of the camera itself. It's not influenced by the type of memory card or the picture size.
The only thing you can do, is prefocus (by pressing the shutter button half way & keeping it there) and wait for the right moment to snap the shutter. This way the delay should be 'only' 1/10th second.

Set it to auto

I don't have a Nikon but there should be something about how to turn the delay off or at least shorten it! Look in the appendix, list in back of book alphebetized, under 'Delay,' 'Picture Delay' or something similar! Or if you bought it in a store bring it back and ask them same if ya bought it online, or Nikon must have a site, listed in the manual where you can ask or call them up & ask! Good luck!

That delay is called shutter lag and it is constant. You cannot change it. Newer cameras have less shutter lag and professional cameras have almost none. Getting a faster card or lowering the mega-pixels will help once the picture has been taken not the initial touch of the button.
Sorry this does not really help you but at least you know what it is!!

A faster card - highly recommended for your camera - would shorten the time you have to wait before taking the next picture, but it would not shorten the time between pushing the shutter button and the camera taking the exposure.

Shutter lag cannot be stopped for most digital cameras. A 3 second shutter delay is not bad. Maybe you are too impatient. On the other hand, It could be that your camera is on auto mode and is deciding what to do to when taking pictures. Try another mode and see if that helps.

You have to hold the button halfway down for a couple of seconds to let it focus first then when you click it all the way down the camera will take the photo quickly. Either that or put it on a fast shutter setting if you have one.

Try taking it off of Auto. If you set the settings to whatever you are shooting the camera will react faster rather then when its on Auto it has to automatically focus and ajust for the conditions. Try playing around with the settings other then auto...you might be able to get the camera reacting a little faster.

I don't own a Nikon, but 3 seconds is horrible. I think all of the Fuji Finepix cameras (& probably Canon) are better than this.

Absolutely, you should pre-focus. Point the camera at a good focus point (it should also have about the correct brightness because the exposure is set also) & half press the shutter & hold it there for at least 1.5 seconds. Then you can press the shutter all of the way down when you are ready. You can usually do this even if the subject isn't in the frame initially (action photos).

Another trick that I've discovered on my Fuji camera, is that it normally makes a stupid shutter/motor-drive noise with its speaker when you trip the shutter. You can turn this sound off in the camera's menu system & the shutter delay is reduced significantly.

where I can go to update the firmware on my digital camera?

Its is a nikon coolpix 7600
I tried nikons website but they dont have the firmware for the 7600 model

thanks :)
I have already googled it..this is why im on here asking
Something is wrong with the camera...when I go to the setup screen everything is fine but as soon as I try and turn the camera part on..it says batteries are exhausted. I have tried brand new batteries and it still does not work. Some one told me that if i update the firmware it might fix it
do you know what i can do to fix this problem other than firmware upgrade?

As far as I know, there isn't a firmware update available for the Coolpix 7600. What kind of batteries are you using? regular alkaline batteries? If so, that may be the reason. Get a set of high capacity rechargeable NiMH batteries and a recharger, such as these:

Im looking for a new camera and want a Digital SLR... was interested in the Canon EOS 400D..?

Is that a good choice? What's the best deal available in australia? preferably queensland. If its not the best what other cameras are available?
i already have a nikon coolpix 7600 but want to take it to the next level.
thanks

I highly recommend DPReview. This is a great site for Digital Camera reviews. Whether its SLR or P&S. I very carefully read through quite a few reviews before choosing my Nikon D40.

Here is a review for 400D:

Anybody know anyhting about printing pictures from a digital camera to photo printer?

I have the following photo printer & digital camera
SAMSUNG DIGITAL PHOTO PRINTER SPP-2020
NIKON DIGITAL CAMERA COOLPIX 7600

Everytime I connect the printer cable from the printer into my camera ready to print off pictures the camera instantly cuts out and remains blank screened and on stand by mode until I then take the cable out again. I don't have a clue why I cannot print my pictures it is the first time I have attempted to do so. I am not familiar with cameras. If anybody is able to help me please can you give me step by step on how i successfully print giving details to guide me. I am not printing using my pc in any way. The printer is specifically to print photos direct from the camera. Serious answers only please. Thanks

Well I hope you have the manual..The printer works by recieving data from the memory card in side your camera ..Some printers require the memory card to be taken out and directly put into the printer port then by accessing the power and print button on your printer it will print directly from the memory card of the camera..If that doesnt work try booting up the software to your computer it might have to go from the camera thru the dock port to the computer then from the software included to the printer by the print function on your pc....Hey I tryed to help...just boot up the software and connect the camera to the dock and the printer to the pc... see what happens try the memory card thing first..just remove it from the camera and see if it fits into the printer some where..it should say memory card slot if there the same brand..

I keep getting the warning/battery exhausted message. I have tried new batteries, but still doesn't work.?

This is a coolpix 7600 camera. I have had it for a little under 2 years. I use rechargeable batteries. Do I get it repaired, or buy a new a new camera?

After 2 years, the camera should still be working fine, unless it's been used many, many times or has been mishandled in some way.
You don't mention what type of new batteries you tried. Are they rechargeable NiMH? And are they of a fairly high power? (e.g. 2700mAh).
Don't forget that brand new rechargeable NiMH batteries do not attain their full power until they have been used and recharged a few times.
Is the charger in good condition and charging the batteries adequately?
Also, make sure the battery contacts are clean and provide a good contact with the batteries.
Another option would be to use high powered non- rechargeable Lithium batteries such as Energizer e2. Never use ordinary alkaline batteries, which are useless in a digital camera.

If you are sure that you have tried all avenues available regarding the batteries and you still have a problem, then a new camera might be the best option.
Your camera has most likely been superceded quite a number of times in 2 years and the cheapest option might be to buy new, rather than the repair option. The main benefits are that you are getting newer and better technology. But, if you are unsure then maybe you should ask a camera service centre for a quote.
Good luck...

Help me fix my camera?

If you are using alkaline batteries, that may be the problem. Try using high capacity rechargeable NiMH batteries.
