This Kodak EASYSHARE V550 Zoom performs extremely well in terms of image quality, yet falls down in several other key areas.
The V550 is a departure from the regular Kodak consumer camera design. It was a very pleasant surprise when we opened the box of this model to discover a slim, stylish, brushed aluminium body. It feels solid and looks great.
The V550 also comes sporting a nice-looking 230,000 pixel, 2.5" LCD. We love big LCDs; they make framing shots just that much easier.
The V550 uses Kodak's standard menu system, which is a brilliant system for new photographers. An on-camera help system succinctly explains what each function does.
This is where the good ends, however. The most noticeable absence from the menu system is any sort of real manual control. That includes manual control over things like aperture, shutter speed and focus. It does offer the standard white balance and ISO controls, and plenty of preset shooting modes, but this won't sate photographers who like to fine-tune their shots manually.
We found the V550 had incredibly fast startup, almost no noticeable shutter lag and 1 to 1.5 seconds image write lag.
The images this camera produces are nothing short of beautiful. For a 5 megapixel model, the V550 outdoes itself, taking images that rival many, more expensive 7 megapixel models. The colour is rich, the detail is clear and crisp. The pictures are something any photographer would be proud to have on their wall.

I have a Kodak EasyShare V550 5.0 digital camera, I had a total of 2 months when I dropped it while the lens was extended, and now the lens will not retract back into the camera....I have everything for it, the dock, the hook ups, even the disc for the computer.....I was wondering if anyone knows of someone who buys broken camera's......Thank you!

My Camera (Kodak Easyshare v550) Wont turn on?
Im a little upset because im going on vacation in 2 weeks and my camera wont turn on? It will charge, the blue lights at the top will flash, and even when i hook it to to the dock, that turns on to. But when i try to press the on/off button, the lights go off for about 3 seconds, and then continue charges. I really need help...And when i try to sync it to the computer by pressing the button, that doesn't work neither.

My Koday Easyshare V550 Camera will not come on!!?
Ok. When I turn it on, the kodak easyshare scrren will come on and the lights will flash, but it will quickly turn off. If i switch it to my favorites on the side, it will show me my pics, but if i switch it back to take some pics, it will turn off. So basically i need some answers plz n help!!!!!
your batteries might be dead and they need to be replaced! if you replace them and the same thing happens then you need to send the camera in for repair! I hope you have a current warranty, if the camera is older then 30 days the warranty is expired.

OK, i want to move pictures from my computer to my camera. I accidently deleted them when i downloaded them to my computer. i have a Kodak Easyshare V550 and a macbook. PLEASE HELP!

Hook up your camera to your Mac via the USB cable. If iPhoto launches, just quit or minimize it into the Dock. Your camera will appear on the desktop as an external drive. Just drag and drop your pics into the camera's drive icon. The Mac will copy the images into the drive. The photos will remain on your Mac.

v550 digital camera download pictures?
Is their anyway to get around using the kodak easyshare software for downloading pictures from my V550 kodak digital camera. Other digital cameras show up like a drive on my computer. I wish my V550 digital camera did that. Please help Thanks,

How to open video format in Windows Movie Maker?
Ok so I have a Windows XP with Windows Movie Maker on it. I know how to get the files from my computer and everything but it doesn't always open. We have two digital cameras and the Canon PowerShot A70 videos on the computer open perfectly into WMM. However, we also have a Kodak EasyShare V550 and those video files are the ones I have trouble uploading. The pictures from the Kodak work fine too, it's just the videos. I've noticed that they have different file formats. Canon=.avi Kodak=.mov
So my question is:
1. Is it even possible to open .mov files in WMM?
-OR-
2. Is there any way to transfer the .mov files to a format I can open with WMM?

download.com has many tools for video editing and conversion. Look there under the video category, and i'm sure you'll find something useful. I use a program known as Super that I downloaded from there. It can convert just about anything to anything else.
My question is regarding memory cards for digital cameras...?
When purchasing memory cards I sometimes have two options in a drop down box: reader or no reader. What's the difference? I have a Kodak Easyshare V550, which one should I choose?
The reader is a bit of extra hardware that lets you connect the memory card to the computer without the camera. I find that convenient, but you don't need it.
You can connect your Kodak to the computer with the memory card in the camera. Your Kodak came with a cable and software for that.
