Does the PowerShot SD790 IS Work with Windows XP?
I just want to know if the PowerShot SD790 IS will work on my Dell, with Windows XP. I need to know this before I buy it. I'm not getting it for a month or so, but it would be great to know if I should even bother saving up for it.
yes it does
BTW I have a Canon myself, different model, and I think they make great cameras. IS is also a very nice feature.
how do i get videos on my computer from my cannon powershot sd790?
hmm, how do i get the videos on my computer? I have the cannon powershot SD790.
connect the camera using the USB Cable or take out the SD Card and insert it in the card reader of ur computer. Now using windows explorer u can see the files in the sd card - The video files may be of AVI or mpeg format..jus copy from them and put it in ur computer.
What is the best digital camera; Canon Powershot SD790, Nikon Coolpix S600, or the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W170/R?
Go with the Nikon S600. It features vibration reduction that works better than the rest (in my opinion). Also, the Nikon colours are vibrant, yet realistic. Canon can be a little faded occasionally and the Sony varies a lot.
Also, the Nikon S600 carries a 2 year warranty. I should also mention that Canon had problems with stuck lenses. This appears to have been corrected a year ago, but its still a little weary.
Not to mention that the Nikon (and Canon) take standard SD cards. That way you're not paying a premium for the Sony Memory Stick and your SD card is compatible almost anywhere you can imagine.
FYI: The previous white balance problems with the Nikons (Mixed Fluorescent Lighting) has been corrected in this model.

I'm thinking of getting a Canon Powershot SD790 IS. Which would be a good memory card to capture lots ?
capture lots of pics and nice lengths of video?
The camera can caapture images to SD/SDHC, MMC/MMC Plus/HC MMC Plus memory cards
I don't know the difference between these. What would be a nice card and card size to get lots of pictures and nice lengthy videos from?
your best bet would be sandisk because they have a lifetime warranty and are top quality.
A 4 or 8 gb card would be good, as I like smaller cards in case something goes bad.
Go with their extreme III series.
4gb
amazon.com has it for $9.00
Can I use a Cannon PowerShot SD790 IS as a webcam?
If so how?
what is difference between the canon cameras, powershot SD950 IS and powershot SD790 IS? thanks....?
im planning to buy a new camera and im debating between these two cameras, so which camera do you think is the best, thanks....
It seems SD950 IS wins over SD790 IS because :
a) of the added features like, optical view finder & auto ISO shift;
b) SD950 IS has higher resolution (12.1 MP ), better optical zoom 3.7 x & better focal length.
Does anyone know hoe to do this feature on a cannon PowerShot SD790 IS?
how do I select one color in my photo, like red, and make everything else black and white??????
Many, if not all, of the CANON point and shoots do have a "feature" called My Colors or something like that to do this. Try reading your owner's manual. It tells you how to do it there.

Not all Canon's can do what you are talking about. For instance, the SD1000 won't do it. It is called color swap or color accent. It can be found in the scene selection menu.
It will tell you how to do it in the manual, or if you get into the mode, the camera will also walk you through it.
Can the Canon PowerShot model SD790 IS use time lapse?
I was wondering if the Canon PowerShot can do time-lapse like seen in this picture: http://www.crosland.com/images/pr/Night_Time_Lapse.jpg?
I'm thinking about getting it but I want a camera that can do time lapse.
Yes the Canon SD790 IS can do Time Lapse animations.
However, the image you provided isn't "Time Lapse." The image you provided used a slow shutter speed.
The SD790 IS has a shutterspeed as slow as 15 seconds, which means the camera will capture movement for 15 seconds (the light trails of the car going around the parking lot).
In order to achieve this effect, you must:
1. Attach the camera to a tripod
2. Set the SD790 IS to a shutter speed of 15 seconds
3. After you press the shutter, ensure the camera stays completely still (this is what the tripod is for)
You can see an example of "Time Lapse" here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time-lapse
Hope that Helps :)

Dusty
