how do i set my canon sd600 powershot to color accent a photo?
SD600 powershot
how do i even set it to color accent mode?
Keep on ''color accent '' feature then hit the '' DISP '' button, there the frame and a little arrow will appear on LCD at the bottom. Point the camera to the object keep the clolor that you want to retain onto the focus frame ( LCD center ) then hit left on the round thing that called control dial where the flower icon on it ( follow the arrow ), hit 1 or more than 1 times until that color appear onto the setting frame at the LCD bottom.
Setting is done then take the picture.
Press softly and slide your finger around on the dial control see what going on on LCD.
How did you use your camera, just on power and take the pics ? did not change the shutting modes like ( outdoor, indoor, nightshot, etc something like that ) ?
Let me know soon.
Good luck!

Does anyone own the Canon PowerShot SD600, how is it for recording videos?
I want to become the next YouTube superstar and have a camera to take normal photos with as well. I was looking through reviews and the PowerShot SD600/630 seems like a good choice for me. I heard it has the ability to make high quality 60 fps videos.
However, I have a question. How long can it record video for? Up to how many minutes? I don't mean what the manufacturer advertises on the box by the way. I mean, in your own experience, what's the longest video you've been able to record with this camera?
Is it adequate for making YouTube videos or should I instead look at buying a camcorder? I would... BUT.. the only thing about camcorders is that I'm not sure how good they are at taking normal still photos (for profile pages such as myspace, and others). I would like something that is capable of both if possible and the SD600 seems like a good choice.
I also have one more question:
Does the camera support SD cards over 1GB? Would using one of these cards give me more recording time or does the camera limit the amount of time you can record?
The SD600 & SD630 are very good little cameras (which are identical, except that the 630 has a larger LCD and is minus an optical viewfinder). I have the SD700 IS, myself.
The best quality movies you can shoot are...
640x480 pixels at 30fps or
320x240 pixels at 30fps
Recording can continue until the memory card is full
(you can record up to a maximum of 1 GB at one time...which is approx. 8 minutes on the highest res or longer on lower res).
Fast Frame Rate is best used to record fast moving subjects; frame rate is 60 fps and resolution limited to 320x240; clip length is limited to 1 minute.
Here are the requirements for YouTube Videos...
"Videos on YouTube....are limited to 10 minutes (unless you're a Director) and 100 MB.
Videos saved with the following settings convert the best:
MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format
320x240 resolution
MP3 audio
30 frames per second framerate"
So...yes, the 'movie' mode on these digital cameras is more than adequate to shoot videos for YouTube and you will have to use 320x240 at 30 fps, anyway. Plus you will need to convert them to one of the above formats.
I would recommend a high speed SD card such as Sandisk Ultra II or Extreme III for best camera performance.
Handycams are good for shooting excellent quality video...but cannot take great quality photos.
Digital cameras are good for shooting excellent quality photos...and good to very good quality 'video'.
P.S. The SD600 can handle a maximum of a 2GB card, which will allow for 2x 1GB length videos.
Good Luck with Superstardom ;-)
Battery life on a Canon PowerShot SD600 or any in the same line?
How do you check it?
I've had my camera for a little over a year, and recently it seems like the battery power is very short.
It's hard to see how long it lasts because it seems fine until I put it down for a day or so. Then when I turn it on, the battery is dead and must be charged.
So quite simply, is it possible to check battery status on the PowerShot cameras, and if so, how?
You can't check the battery status, but the SD600's battery - Canon's NB-4L - is like any other lithium battery; you can only recharge it so many times before it starts having difficulty holding a charge. Having that happen after just a year is a little unusual, but not totally unheard of.
Your best solution would be just to replace the battery - you can either shell out $40-50+ for the Canon-branded NB-L4, or get a generic one for less than $20 in most places. If you go generic, look for batteries made by Lenmar, whose replacement batteries for other Canon cameras are top-notch.
Why is the picture quality bad with a Canon PowerShot SD600?
I recently bought a new Canon PowerShot SD600 Digital Elph camera. Lately, when I take pictures, the quality is terrible. It's very grainy. I took pictures at a graduation and they came out dark and grainy. I used the flash. I don't know what the problem is. Does anyone else have the same problems with this camera? Do you know how to fix it?
Couple of things to look for:
1. Make sure the lens is clean, if not clean with lens cloth and spray
2. Check your settings, such as ISO - having your camera on high ISO (although usueful in certain situations) can make your pictures look grainy.
Go through other settings as well, such as exposure compensation, etc. to make sure nothing is out of the normal setting. Often some setting gets changed, people are not aware about it and camera takes less optimal pictures.
Should I trade in my Canon PowerShot A610 for a Canon PowerShot SD600 ?
I have a Canon PowerShot A610 right now and it seems too bulky to carry around with me. It's a 5mp camera and the image quality is the best I've seen from a digital camera in its class.
I am wondering if I can expect the same picture quality from the Canon PowerShot SD600 6mp camera? I know megapixel doesn't tell you anything about image quality, so will someone with experience with Canon digital cameras please tell me if selling my A610 for a SD600 is worth it?
The SD 600 is a temptation, but the sensor is about half the size of the sensor in the A 610. I don't know what advances may have been made in a couple of years, but I doubt the pictures in the SD 600 would be any better than the A 610. If you want a small camera that has a larger sensor, look into the SD 900. It costs a lot more than the SD 600, but it's still pocket-sized.
What do you think about the Canon Powershot SD600 Digital Camera?
I'm going to get a new camera (old one's not working) and I want a really good one that I'll get my money's worth out of and be able to take great shots, even videos, just for everyday things as well as events. I found out about this one and reviews made it sound great, but I'm just getting backup opinions before I decide to buy it. I even found a site to get it for $160 instead of $400. So if you could rate it 1-10 and say why, or just give comments, that'd be great.
Canon's SD models are excellent ultra compact cameras, and the SD600 was a very popular model about...1 1/2 years ago.
It's a very good little camera but, you might also want to consider a newer model. Maybe the SD1000, which features the latest Digic III processor (which means the camera will be faster and image quality is better). It also has a higher res. LCD and other improved features.
You would need to buy a high speed SD card for optimum camera performance.
The camera is available for just over US$200 (online)...which is not much extra to pay for newer technology.
But, if you are not prepared to pay extra, then the SD600 is a fine little camera. Just make sure you buy a fast SD card (Sandisk Ultra II or the faster, Extreme III). 1-2GB is a good minimum, which will provide plenty of storage for photos/videos. Make sure your photo quality is set to...Superfine/Large..and your movies, 640x480 at 30fps.
good luck...
How do you upload images from camera to cpu using a Canon Powershot SD600?
I don't understand the workings of my camera. I have the small cartridge disk, but when I place it into my laptop---it's registered as a foreign object. Also, I'm not sure if I'm missing some accessories...do I need a cord or is there a certain area in the computer to access for the camera? Thanks!!
I have two Canon digital cameras an Elph and a Powershot. They both came with a CD to install. Once you load the software on your computer you can use the cord and load through your usb port or try putting the card in the slot. It should recognize the pictures immediately and load.
Check Canon's site for troubleshooting if these don't work. If you don't have the CD you may be able to find it online. I don't think it matters which version. The Powershot software worked with my Elph.
Please help! Can someone tell me if my canon powershot sd600 is compatible with vista?
I cant find a good answer to this question. I was sent a link earlier but it was no help.
Vista will copy your images from your Powershot SD600.
You will either have to treat the camera as a removable hard drive or take the memory card out and use a card reader (around $10) to transfer you images to the hard drive on your computer.
The photo program that came with the camera my not work using Vista, but if you contact them, they will provide you with a solution.
Is the Canon PowerShot SD600 pocketable?
I wanted to upgrade from the Kodak DX7630 because it is simply huge and I can't take it around anywhere. Would I be able to carry around the Canon PowerShot SD600 in my jeans pocket?
Also, any pros and cons and do you recommend it?
Thanks
Yes the SD600 is very pocketable and it's a very good camera....it's even smaller than all the newer SD models. I have the SD700 IS and it's so small.
However, I still put it inside a small camera bag to protect the LCD screen. You can get bags that are almost made to fit (Lowepro).
