HELP! Is it possible to recover pics accidentally deleted from a canon powershot G6?
Yes. Do not use the memory card again until you run an image recovery program. Sandisk has a free program with their Extreme III cards. Or you can buy one at the local big box computer store, or Google free image recovery and see what pops up.
it sucks!
i need help shooting videos with my canon powershot g6 7.1 mp cammera. can some one help?
I am mostly wondering what you're doing with a Canon G6 when it is video that you want to take? This is a digital still image camera (older model) and I haven't seen one for a long time. I don't remember whether it will actually take videos or not. In any case it's not really designed to take videos. If the videos are what you want, you should try and sell it and buy a video camera. Video on a still camera is simply a feature to help sell the camera that was added on as an afterthought, and still cameras take poor quality videos at best. If you're looking for something that will take video and still pictures, a better choice is a video camera which has a separate setting and flash card for taking still pictures. There are several nice video cameras in this category.
Canon PowerShot G6 Digital Camera F-Stop?
I'm in a Digital Imaging class and i need to write down what the F-Stop and the Shutter Speed and ISO is. I've never taken a Photography class and i'm terrible with cameras! I know why am I even in the class....If someone could tell me where I could find this information on the camera I would really appreciate it!
Thanks!
(I don't have the manual)
Do you mean you want all this info from photographs you have already taken?
All digital photos have this info right inside the image.
Just right click on the image (on your computer) or a thumbnail of it.
Right click, choose properties. If you don't see the info there, there might be another tab that says 'advanced'
You'll see the shutter speed, ISO and other various info. If you shot in RAW mode, just about everything you can imagine is embedded in the picture file like focal length, if the flash fired, white balance, f stop settings etc.
I recommend you download and save the User Guide (for future reference) from the link below. Pages15-21 shows you how to customize your Display Information and how to read it...
What is the proper aspect ratio for taking a photograph for a Music CD Cover?
Using my digital camera, I'd like to compose a picture for a friend's band's CD Cover.
So that I know how better to compose the picture, what do I need to keep in mind about shooting a picture that will end up in a square format, as opposed to the wider aspect ratio of a more conventional photographic print?
If it's of any value to know this, I'm using a 7.0 MP Canon Powershot G6.
It appears that the question period has expired. If you have received an answer that meets your needs, please choose a 'best answer.'
Regards.
When composing your image, look at the rectangle but imagine the edges blacked off, hence, imagine you're looking at a square viewfinder.
Once the image is downloaded, you can crop the area that was outside of your imagined area.
All you must always keep in mind is to just imagine the square area and compose with your major elements in the area. Square formats sometimes lend themselves better to subjects that are centered, but otherwise, all the rules of conventional composition apply - rule of thirds, be close to your subject, exploit perspective and leading lines, etc.
In order to crop to a music cd exacty, take out a ruler and measure a cd's width and height. In photoshop, create a new image and enter the value in inches for the width and height, with a resolution of 300 pixels/inch (assuming the images you're shooting are 7.0MP). You can now crop a square section from your image, and copy paste it into this newly created file. The image will appear in a new layer. You can now resize and position it to your tastes.
Good luck!
What can I use to charge my videocam/digital camera/laptop in the Philippines?
I'm traveling next week to the Philippines and I'm bringing my Sony DCR-SR42 handycam, Canon Powershot G6 camera and my laptop. I need to know what charger/power adapter to buy. Thanks!
Check the label on your power adapter. If it says 120 - 240v, then you should be good. Most wall outlets in the Philippines produce 240v and will blow the fuse or the whole device if it is not rated to support this capacity.
If your adapters do not support 240v, then you'll need a step-down transformer that allows you to plug it into a 240v outlet and produces 120v output. If you can't find one local to your area, you will find more availability in the Philippines.
If you need to charge multiple devices at once, you'll need to also bring or buy a power strip bar. Don't plug these directly into a 240v wall outlet unless it is rated to work for such capacity.
Unlike the typical plug interface in the U.S. with 2 parallel bars, some 240v outlets in the Philippines require a plug interface with 2 parallel round holes. Go to your local radio shack or equivalent to buy these accessories.
Good luck!
What camera settings should I use for a concert?
My max ISO's are 400 and 800
Should I go into Aperture priority or Shutter Priority? What settings should I use for those modes?
No, I'm not using flash.
I have a Canon PowerShot G6.
Also, what settings for resolution should I have, i.e. fine/superfine and M1 (1200x1600) or L (3264x2448) images?
If it's super dark : Max resolution, max ISO, aperture priority at the lowest f/# it goes to, if you want, rear curtain flash (or slow sych, whatever they call it).
...unless this is a daytime concert, then things would be different.
Oh, and avoid zooming in; more camera shake when you do that.
When taking pictures, how do you get the camera to focus on a certain object?
i want to take pictures where there is one object in the foreground that is focused and the background is blurred
i have a cannon powershot G6
You are talking about selective focus. It is very difficult to do that using a P&S camera since 1) the lens and sensor combination gives you very deep depth of field, even with the lens aperture wide open (this has to do with the size of the sensor and design of the lens 2) you have little or no control over the aperture of your lens (P&S cameras pretty much choose the aperture and shutter speed automatically and there are very few of them that allow any control at all)
The way photographers do that with their DSLR's, is by using a fast, medium to long telephoto lens and focusing close with the aperture wide open.
So with your camera set in the aperture priority mode, using the longest focal length setting (140 mm ) and aperture set to f/3.0, MIGHT give you what you want, but only when you are focused on a subject that is close to the end of the cameras lens
