i turn it on and it shows nothing but black, the menus will pop up. but it wont show a picture of anything. almost like the shutter is closed. but its not.

there is a button called "disp" or display... press that button repeatedly until the image comes on the screen.

I know it can damage the camera if I use the higher voltage power tips, but what about one slightly lower? Will it damage the camera? Or not work at all?

There is more to an adapter than the voltage. The ampere rating is the other ... if it is too low, it can cause overheating or damaging to the electronics in your camera

Stick with the AC adapter made for your camera by Canon for your camera.

Hey guys I have a question, Is there anyway to get my canon a300 powershot to take longer vdieos? It currently takes 3 mintue videos is there anyway to get a different flash card to make them longer? it curently has a 512mb scandisk flash card. Thank You.

I was taking pictures one sunny after noon and experimenting with the iso settings and then my digital viewfinder went blank except for the display settings. Al my pictures from then on are completely black. I checked to make sure that it was not somthing obvious, like the lense cover closed or a big something covering the lense. I turned it on and off several times, changed the batteries and still no pictures. Is my camera simply broken? Please help me if you can.

I know this is obvious but have you checked to make sure you don't have the setting for the display turned off?

I just got a new computer. It's an HP w2207h (at least, that's what the screen says) that has Windows Vista on it. I have no idea how to do anything on it (I've been strictly Mac for the last 8 years) and so I need help.

If I want to upload pictures from my Canon PowerShot A300 onto my computer, what do I need to so? I've been plugging it in to a USB port and turning it on, but... well, nothing. Since that's all I've ever had to do before, I am absolutely lost. Any tips or suggestions (or, even better - precise directions!) would be appreciated. Thanks!

1. Try all the USB ports on the computer.
2. Make sure the cable is connected properly.

If those don't work, try using the software that came with the camera
or try using a card reader.

I think you have to give more details...but try and make sure the batteries are fully charged, and you have a card it. If those don't work look in the manual, there should be a section if something isn't working right.

when the camera is turned on and I depress the menu button there is a beep thats ok but no beep when I depress the shutter and it doesnt even have a middle stop you know when you press to focustherefore it cannot take a picture. yet when I press the menu button the screen lights up with allthe options HELP

The camera comes on but no image on screen.
Tech support online shows no information for this camera.

I tried the display button and it doesn't change anything.

The normal little icons all show up but you can't shoot an image nor does it show one.

I have the same problem with my a300 and just found the answer. Canon will fix it for free. If you haven't had luck . 1800 828 4040 (support)

I'v tried everything it told me to do!!! I know stuff about computers and stuff...but this time its reeeeeealy pissing [[pardon french]] me OFF!!

well i would advise checking the manual, and if all else fails i woudl contact canon since im sure they will be more than happy to help u.
also it could be a problem on the pc itself a fault with the usb connection.
